Two Sugars, No Small Talk
Mara's Ember prompt read: "Will judge you kindly for your coffee order." Theo answered with a photo of the worst latte art in the city — a lopsided heart that looked more like a potato — and a caption that just said, "be gentle."
They agreed to meet at the café in the photo, half as a joke. Mara got there first and ordered two coffees before she'd even seen him walk in, one black, one with two sugars, guessing correctly which was his. They talked for three hours about nothing important and everything that mattered, and when the café finally stacked the chairs around them, neither one reached for their phone to check the time.
Six months later, the potato-heart latte art is framed above their kitchen table.
